If you’re anything like me, at some point you will have had an idyllic thought of baking your own Christmas cake… rosy cheeked children looking on and licking spoons whilst your whip up a fragrant and delicious Christmas cake in your gingham apron.
Reality check?
Rosy cheeked children start moaning quite quickly and the mammoth clean up operation / realisation that you’ve started it too late to manage the 3-4 hour bake you need to finish the darn thing has you chugging the Christmas brandy before it’s even made it to the cake.
